MASTER PACS - PERFORMING ARTS AND COMMUNITY SPACES

The Master from September 2020 resumes after the suspension period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The aim of the Master PACS - Performing Arts and Community Spaces, the first in Italy of its kind, is to propose a course which, through the exploration of the performative languages of theater, music, dance and visual arts, will guide participants towards new forms of artistic experimentation and interdisciplinary research, as well as towards forms of community-based activation of the architectural and urban space, with particular attention to the spaces of the former Slaughterhouse in Roman neighborhood of Testaccio, where both the Department of Architecture and the “Pelanda”, one of the most important performing spaces in Roma, are located.

Who is it for?

The Master PACS is addressed to artists and experimenters in the various disciplines of performing arts, as well as to architects, landscapers and urban planners; to curators and theorists of contemporary art and to philosophers, anthropologists and researchers in the field of urban studies. One of the objectives of the Master is to introduce the performing arts in the cultural horizon of architects. Performance can become a useful tool to architecture; the body and its movement can be used in architectural and urban design as means of production of community spaces.
Workshops will involve Italian and international artists and theorists; theoretical seminars will contribute to deepening the educational path in a perspective of mutual exchange and construction of a creative and critical vision.
