During the encounters on 9 and 10 April, children attending the workshop will have an opportunity to discover the artistic activities that take place inside the spaces of La Pelanda, focusing in particular on the programme of artistic and productive residencies entitled Prender-si cura which hosts various different artists for a period of research and creation. In their encounter with resident artists the children will be guided by Ilaria Mancia who devised and curated the project, and by Paola Granato who curates the writing section in the Diario, thus allowing them to discover what lies behind the job of devising and creating an artistic project, with a chance to ask the artists questions in order to penetrate a process of which we usually only perceive the end result.
After this initial moment of encounter and exchange, the children will attend a movement workshop conducted by choreographer and dancer Marina Donatone, allowing them to put into practice the stimuli spawned by the experiences that they have witnessed.

Ilaria Mancia is a curator, organiser and dramaturg of performance arts. Currently a curator, she is in charge of training projects, productive residencies and performance events at the Mattatoio in Rome. In that capacity, she devised and has been curating Prender-si cura, an artistic research and production residency project, since 2020 and she curated the PACS 2020-21 Master Class in Performance Arts and Community Spaces and the MAP_PA 2022 Master Class in Performance Arts. In the summer of 2020 she curated Gaia-Thirst and in the summer of 2021 re-creatures, projects of video installations, environmental installations, performances, concerts, workshops and encounters in the Mattatoio’s interior and exterior spaces. She has worked with various national and international theatre and dance companies and artists and at various international performance art and theatre festivals.

Paola Granato is a student of the performance arts, an independent researcher and a dramaturg. She is currently working with the Mattatoio di Roma – Azienda Speciale Palaexpo on the Prender-si cura artistic research and production residency project as a dramaturg and on various artistic projects combining writing, organising and curating. She has worked with art festivals and institutions, including the Santarcangelo Festival.

Marina Donatone, a dancer and choreographer, was born in Rome in 1993 and trained with the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy.
In her work she seeks a body in the making that offers itself to the choreographic system as live material, that works and is worked on the basis of the relationships into which it worms its way.
In her capacity as a creator she has produced performances for the stage and for non-theatrical spaces including the Museo Civico in Bassano del Grappa, the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, the Museo De Felice/CAOS Terni and the PAV Parco Arte Vivente.
She pursues research into artistic practices and childhood and, in conjunction with Ilaria Mancia, she curates the mappa mondi project consisting of movement workshops for children.
