COPY, TRANSFORM, COMBINE is a playful exploration of choreographic composition.
Taking our cue from the incorporation of a set of images (photographs and videos), we will be using them to explore various exercises in imitative interaction, generating various different forms of movement and of representation of the body. Our gestures may occasionally appear complicated or radically abstract, but they will turn into new dances, transforming the imitation process into the creation of something surprising and unexpected.
Jacopo Jenna is a choreographer, performer and filmaker whose research probes the perception of dance and choreography as extended practice, spawning a variety of different performance contexts in which to re-place the body in relation to movement. With a degree in sociology, he trained in dance at the Codarts (Rotterdam Dance Academy). He concerns himself with training and educational pathways for various age groups, developing new strategies for relating to performance art. He has presented his projects at festivals, museums and institutions at the international level, collaborating with permanent companies and taking part in choreographic research projects with other artists, including Jacopo Miliani, Caterina Barbieri, Roberto Fassone, Ramona Caia and Bassam Abou Diab.
