OTELLO SCATOLINI, ARMONIA 5.0. ALLORCHÉ DI DUE FARETE UNO

November 12, 2025 - January 3, 2026

curated by Claudio Strinati

Exhibition promoted by the Assessorato alla Cultura di Roma Capitale and the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo. Organized by the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo.

The show brings together works by Otello Scatolini (Rome, 1964) created over a period of around fifteen years. They are united by one of the main themes of his work, which spans drawing, painting, and sculpture: the harmony of the title, which the artist has been pursuing for many years, also through meditation. This harmony is found in both the forms and the techniques used, seeking a harmonious balance between marble, resin, colors, and various materials, which imbues the monumental sculpture with the lightness of water.

The show's subtitle explains this dualism, represented by the large sculpture Androgino, a new Vitruvian being launched in the 21st century and culminating in Uovo Cosmico, a ceiling installation that is a synthesis of the magical gesture, the creator and healer of art.

Among the many works on display, a large space is dedicated to large canvases bearing a whispered, almost unintelligible script, also found in several sculptures (Grida e sussurri ), 2010, Mo(a)rmorio, 2010: cast in lead and gold, a reference to alchemical sublimation, the script becomes a mantra and suggests silence and thought to the visitor, in opposition to the shouts and superficiality which dominate.

For Otello Scatolini, the design phase itself is a period of silence and thought that is transformed into guiding words and signs, then into drawing, and finally into the sculpted work: two rooms of the exhibition are dedicated to the recreation and sharing of this original experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves virtually in the artist's studio through the use of 3D visors. An immersive experience of the creative act in the presence of the artist, who on several occasions will guide the audience through all the phases of his work, recounting its genesis, its material realization, and the final meaning.
