Curated by Associazione Ariadne
The Beginning: Rome, Scenes of a City in Flow is an immersive theatre project recounting Rome in the 1960s through theatre, live music, dance and evocative images. The experience unfolds over three days, involving the audience in a journey amid urban memory and social transformation, with debates, performances and participatory workshops. The event, devised by Valeria Freiberg and produced by the Compagnia Ariadne – Teatro “A”, promotes cultural inclusion and intergenerational dialogue. Rome is not just a place, it is a narrative in ceaseless motion, a cultural identity that evolves without ever losing its breath. The project addresses a journey into collective memory, a bridge between eras and generations, where the audience is encouraged to rediscover the city through the stories, sounds and emotions that have made it eternal. The stage becomes a window onto the city of the past, a place in which the narrative on stage is interwoven with the memory of the city.
The Associazione Ariadne, which has been active since 1969, is one of the oldest theatrical groups in Italy, directed by Valeria Freiberg who has devised numerous retrospectives devoted to contemporary theatre and theatrical research. It develops multidisciplinary projects involving art, memory and participation. Its theatre rests on listening to the present and feeds on relationships, creativity and cultural commitment. Its current repertoire includes over 15 performances tailored to suit all age groups.
