Curated by Bluecheese Project – Lara De Angelis and Pierpaolo Fabrizio
The Last of the New is a visual exploration recounting the transition from analogue to digital as a historic threshold and a radical transformation of public space.
Using sound, video art, photography and words, the experience accompanies the spectator on a journey midway between freedom and control, presence and disincarnation.
A countdown scans the narrative, which takes shape through the works of MASBEDO, Theo Eshetu, Vinca Petersen, Elisa Giardina Papa, FLxER with voice and sound by Roberto Latini and Gianluca Misiti from Canto 26 of Dante’s Inferno.
Two screens construct a borderline environment between public and private space; the spectator is encouraged to engage in active rather than linear observation.
The Last of the New is an act of poetry and criticism, a device of urban imagination that questions the new personal and social architectures spawned by digital culture.
