Under the patronage of the Embassy of Eritrea
The idea of the photography exhibition Of Light and Dust came from the work carried out by Smile Project, a non-profit organization that has been working in Eritrea for years with multiple projects supporting local communities through targeted and sustainable interventions. Its goal is to promote greater awareness of Eritrean culture, its identity and uniqueness, and raising public awareness of the importance of international cooperation and solidarity.
In the spring of 2025, the association Smile Project ODV invited a group of volunteers to go on a journey to see the work it has been carrying out for years. This experience gave rise to a visual reportage by Alessandro Moggi, a photographer who explores the world with a profound and sensitive approach.
Through his lens, Eritrea is revealed unfiltered: a country of great strength and dignity, made up of everyday stories and small details that, together, compose a universe rich in culture and memory. Through Moggi’s photographs, the fruit of an aesthetic exploration grounded in respect for what he observes, a travel story unfolds in silence, taking shape through the light, the faces, the dust of the streets, and the gestures of a distant and little-known land.
