Recreation

curated by Ilaria Mancia and Marina Donatone

Recreation, now in its second edition, is a free of charge cycle of workshops organised by the Mattatoio free of charge  in the spaces of La Pelanda starting March 2022. In continuity with the research and experimentation work that is performed in these spaces, Recreation has been devised as an open training opportunity designed to allow participants to return to inhabiting a shared space. Seeking to probe contemporary artistic languages and styles in depth through the practice of movement, sound and drawing, this cycle of workshops aims to pursue the exploration of the performance arts as a terrain for exchange and experimentation.

Recreation comprises two proposals: the first, mappa mondi, consists of artistic movement, music and drawing workshops for girls and boys aged 6 to 8 and 8 to 10 designed to encourage creative exploration through bodily experience and to stimulate an initial critical look at contemporary art. The girls and boys accompanied on this pathway will thus have the opportunity to discover artistic styles and languages and to experiment with multiple ways of building up their experience of the world, including in a playful dimension. The second pathway, entitled trajectories, is designed for adults who wish to explore, to discover and to turn their hand to the various different practices adopted by guest artists, their paths crossing in a space open to dialogue and to research.

A moment to engage in creativity and sharing, immersion in the styles and languages of the performance arts, and an opportunity for interaction and osmotic exchange between the Mattatoio’s audiences and the activities that inhabit it and breathe life into it.
