The project is an interactive and immersive experience that recounts the Testaccio neighbourhood in a new and engaging manner. The installation marks its distance from the traditional stage-audience configuration, demolishing the barriers between the audience and the surrounding space, urging each participant to become an active part of the narrative. The heart of the installation consists of 36 circular discs fixed to the ground, arranged in a circumference 10 metres in diameter. These discs are halting stations, symbolic spaces that allude to places and moments in the Testaccio. Each disc represents a point of reflection, an opportunity for the audience to stop and think about 36 terms that recount the past, the present and the future of this historic neighbourhood in Rome. The event sets out to reflect on the collective memory and the multiple identities of the neighbourhood, promoting the active participation of the community and the sharing of stories that define its urban identity.
Valerio Ventura is an architect and an artist. His artistic research stretches from art to architecture and his work reflects these dual roots. His works are dominated by abstraction and texture while his recourse to geometry and modularity reflects an attempt to impart a shape to reality by displaying a different reality.
Ventura stages daily life in order to change the viewpoint, recounting a new and personal vision of reality.
