The workshop takes its cue from the Black Med project that Invernomuto has been developing since 2018 and that has produced diversified outputs in the context of the visual arts and of sound. In particular, the collective working session at the Mattatoio will focus on the latest development in the project: a web platform entitled blackmed.invernomuto.info.

Through sound research associated with the macro-region of the Mediterranean, the workshop aims to supply certain keys for the interpretation and analysis of sound and its visual representation, probing reservoirs of fluid and non-linear sound production.

Invernomuto is the name of an artistic personality spawned in 2003 by Simone Bertuzzi (Piacenza, 1983) and Simone Trabucchi (Piacenza, 1982). On a common theoretical base, Invernomuto develops different outputs that take on the shape of images in motion, sounds, performance actions and publishing projects in the context of a practice defined by a use of different media as comprehensive as it is specific. Reality is observed according documentary principles and interests, but in an effort to convey an imaginary and almost abstract depiction, opening up critical margins for reflection. Within this process, a crucial role is played by the openly-stated lack of authenticity of some of the materials used, underscoring the real yet at the same time fictitious and mystified factor in the realities that Invernomuto explores.

In 2021 they took part in the Liverpool Biennial 2021, 58th October Salon-Belgrade Biennial 2021 and Pompeii Commitment, Pompei. Their most recent one-man shows include: The Green Parrot, Barcelona (2021); Auto Italia, London (2020); Galleria Nazionale, Rome (2019); NN Contemporary Art, Northampton (2019); Pinksummer, Genoa (2019). Their work has been shown in the most important cultural institutions in Italy and abroad including: Tate, London; Manifesta 12 Palermo; Villa Medici, Rome; Alserkal Avenue, Dubai; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna and many more. Both artists also develop individual lines of research with the musical projects Palm Wine and STILL.

Invernomuto is represented by Pinksummer gallery, Genoa.
