Conceived by Repubblica in collaboration with Electa and Studio Azzurro
Promoted by Assessorato alla Cultura, Azienda Speciale Palaexpo and Fondazione Mattatoio di Roma – Città delle Arti
On 14 January 1976, the first copy of la Repubblica rolled off the presses of a Roman printing house under the direction of its founder, Eugenio Scalfari. It marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey, rich in events, remarkable personalities, and achievements, which today reaches the milestone of half a century. To celebrate its first 50 years, la Repubblica is organizing an exhibition addressed to its community of readers and, more broadly, to anyone wishing to explore the history of a newspaper that has helped write the story of Italian journalism.
the exhibition offers a multimedia experience retracing the newspaper’s first fifty years through photographs, original cartoons, video interviews, and historic front pages. The exhibition also guides visitors through the evolution of journalistic language and communication, from print to digital, from newsstands to social media.
The exhibition will also include a dedicated meeting area where, every Saturday afternoon, visitors will be able to listen to stories and reflections from the journalists and authors who bring the newspaper to life each day.
