Recreation

curated by Ilaria Mancia and Marina Donatone

Recreation is a programme of free workshops that the Mattatoio di Roma is organising in its La Pelanda space in June and July 2021: a return to that space, an opportunity for open training to explore contemporary artistic languages in depth through dance, sound and performance.

Recreation is split into two pathways: mapping worlds workshops involving movement for girls and boys aged 6 to 8 designed to encourage creative exploration through the relationship between the body and space; and trajectories designed for adults wishing to explore certain aspects of contemporary artistic practice with artists working with different artistic languages.

These two parallel paths find common ground in the workshops for children: the artists involved as teachers will be hosted in the children's classes for a day to share their practices.

A pro-active moment of full immersion into the language of the performance arts, an opportunity to forge an interactive relationship with the Mattatoio's public and with the various different activities that take place there.
