Fanny & Alexander is an art workshop founded by Luigi De Angelis and Chiara Lagani in Ravenna in 1992. In over twenty-five years of activity, the company has produced over seventy events including theatrical and musical performances, video and film productions, installations, performance actions, photographic exhibitions, conventions and study seminars, festivals and retrospectives. The relationship between the theatre and literature has always played a key role in the company's poetic. Its works include a cycle devoted to Nabokov's novel Ada or Ardour, which has been the recipient of two Ubu awards; a multi-annual project devoted to The Wizard of Oz (2007-2010) and an in-depth piece devoted to public speaking with the series of the Discourses exploring the relationship between the individual and the community. The latest shows include Story of a Friendship devoted to Elena Ferrante's quadrilogy entitled The Brilliant Friend (edizioni E/O), If This Is Levi and The Books of Oz.

The workshop will be presented in the space of La Pelanda sarà devoted to drama work designed for staging plays for children. The workshop will unfold around the world of Oz, starting with the translating and editing job done by the playwright Chiara Lagani in producong the Books of Oz, to which the publisher Einaudi devoted a Millennio edition in 2017, and from which the company will take its cue for a performance for children that will make its debut at the end of 2019. The workshop's pivotal moment will be the dialogue that can be forged between translation and play-writing for the purpose of creating a show for children. The public account bringing the workshop process to a close will be devoted to gathering and sharing conclusions, possibly envisaging also the presence of outside guests from the world of literature and translation.

Duration of the workshop: from Wednesday 8 to Saturday 11 May 2019.
