Nacera Belaza was born in Algeria but has been living in France since the age of five. After gaining a degree in modern literature at Reims University, she set up her own dance company in 1989. She was named Knight of the Order of the Arts and Literature by the French Ministry for Cultural Affairs in January 2015. He joined the world of dance as a self-taught performer and developed a form of choreography which, in an interior progress, triggers a fully-fledged awareness of the body, of space and of the void within self. Repetition of gesture, infinite slowness, the expansion of time. Nacera Belaza's Company regularly presents its work in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America. Thanks to the activities of her company in France, she has recently founded an artistic cooperative in Algeria. Nacera Belaza never ceases, in her creations, to question "the gesture of dance" or to nurture her work through the substantive contribution of her dual cultural roots in France and in Algeria. "I seek movement itself, an uncontolled, unbound movement, free and open movement. To have a neutral and available body, to listen to the space around one. To feel space, to take delivery of space and to invest it."

The workshop is designed for dancers and amateurs with a modicum of bodily practice and experience of movement; the work aims to question the professional and the amateur dancer's learning modalities. The challenge consists in continuing to fuel the relationship with others and always to acquire a new way of looking at the stage.
